Gloaming Reach connects immigrants, elderly residents, young people, and families across Dublin with practical, culturally sensitive programs β from food distribution and digital literacy workshops to youth mentorship and senior companionship visits.
Whether you've just arrived in Ireland, need a helping hand accessing services, or want to volunteer your skills, we're here β at 9 Northland Grove, Dublin, and across the communities that need us most.
Settling into a new country takes courage. We walk alongside immigrant families, newly arrived refugees, and non-English-speaking adults every step of the way β with practical, culturally adapted support that makes Dublin feel like home.
From understanding the Irish healthcare system and opening a bank account to navigating public transport and finding local services, our integration team provides one-to-one orientation for newly arrived families and individuals. We work in multiple languages and collaborate with local councils, TUSLA, and community health centres to make referrals smooth and trustworthy.
Our multilingual volunteers and staff help bridge language gaps during appointments, meetings with landlords, and interactions with government offices. We don't just translate words β we help newcomers understand Irish community norms, social expectations, and the unwritten rules of daily life here.
Belonging takes time, but it starts with one connection. We introduce newcomers to community groups, local sports clubs, faith communities, and neighbourhood networks β helping build the friendships and relationships that turn a place into a home. Our local referral network spans 40+ organisations across Dublin.
Loneliness should never be the norm for older adults in our community. Gloaming Reach's senior outreach program provides regular companionship, practical assistance, and warm connections that genuinely improve wellbeing for elderly residents across Dublin.
Our trained volunteers visit elderly residents at home for regular one-to-one check-ins, conversation, shared meals, and friendly support. For seniors living alone β including elderly immigrants who may lack family nearby β these visits provide a lifeline that reduces social isolation and keeps people connected to their wider community.
Can't visit in person? Our volunteers make regular phone calls to check in on seniors' health, mood, and practical needs β flagging concerns early and connecting people with appropriate services before small issues become serious.
We assist older adults with understanding entitlements, accessing Carer's Allowance, connecting with Age Action Ireland, getting prescriptions, and navigating other essential services β ensuring no one misses out due to confusion or lack of support.
Beyond home visits, we organise small social gatherings, cultural afternoons, and group outings specifically for older adults β creating safe, welcoming spaces where seniors can meet peers, share stories, and form real friendships.
Healthcare professionals and social workers:
We accept referrals from GPs, HSE practitioners, family carers, and housing workers. Our intake process is simple and respectful β call +353 88 261 3774 or email [email protected] to discuss a referral.
Every young person deserves a role model who understands their world. Our structured mentorship program pairs teenagers and young adults from immigrant and marginalised households with experienced, culturally aware mentors who inspire confidence, leadership, and a sense of belonging.
Our 12-week mentorship cycles match young people aged 13β24 with mentors who reflect their cultural backgrounds and lived experiences. Sessions cover personal goal-setting, school engagement strategies, CV building, civic participation, and navigating Irish institutions β all in a supportive, informal setting where young people feel genuinely heard.
We work closely with Dublin schools, ForΓ³ige, local youth clubs, and Tusla-linked services to identify young people who would benefit most β especially those at risk of disengagement, those from newly arrived immigrant families, and young adults navigating the transition to employment.
Working alongside teachers and guidance counsellors, we help at-risk young people re-engage with education through consistent mentoring, homework support, and motivation-building activities tailored to their individual situation.
Beyond individual mentoring, our group leadership workshops build teamwork, communication, civic awareness, and confidence β giving young people from marginalised backgrounds the tools to lead in their communities.
For young adults ready to enter the workforce, our mentors help with CV writing, interview preparation, online job searching, and connecting with local employers who value diversity and lived experience.
No family in Dublin should go to bed hungry. Our food distribution initiative provides free, dignified access to essential groceries and household staples for families facing food insecurity, individuals in temporary hardship, and parents struggling with the rising cost of living.
Families and individuals can access our food distribution sessions by contacting us directly or being referred by a social worker, school, GP, or community partner. There is no lengthy assessment β we respect the dignity and urgency of every person's situation.
Families Affected by Price Pressures
Rising energy, rent, and grocery costs leave many Dublin households stretched beyond their means.
Single Adults in Temporary Hardship
Job loss, illness, or benefit delays can create sudden, urgent food insecurity for individuals living alone.
Parents and Young Families
We prioritise households with young children, lone parents, and pregnant women facing acute food needs.
Newly Arrived Immigrants & Refugees
Families awaiting IPSAS support or benefit processing can face weeks without income. We fill that gap.
Individual donors, supermarkets, local businesses, and faith groups regularly donate non-perishable food items and hygiene products. A single food parcel costs approximately β¬18 and feeds a family for one week.
Support the Food ProgrammeDublin is home to people from over 180 countries. Our cultural exchange events celebrate that richness β creating joyful, inclusive gatherings where neighbours from every background can share food, stories, traditions, and laughter in a spirit of genuine belonging.
From neighbourhood multicultural dinners and storytelling evenings to cultural workshops, art exhibitions, and seasonal celebrations reflecting the diversity of our community β every event organised by Gloaming Reach is designed to reduce isolation, spark connections, and build a genuinely inclusive Dublin.
Our events welcome everyone β immigrant residents, long-established Dubliners, diaspora communities, youth groups, and seniors. No event is about "tolerating" difference; they're about genuinely celebrating it together.
Food is the universal connector. Our community meals bring together cooking traditions from across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, South America, and beyond β a delicious, joyful way to learn about each other's worlds.
From oral storytelling circles and craft exhibitions to music afternoons and heritage conversations, our cultural programme honours the stories and traditions that participants bring from their homelands β while building bridges with Irish culture.

Real stories from the people and families we've had the privilege to support.
"When we arrived in Dublin from Romania three years ago, I didn't know where to start. We had four children, no English beyond the basics, and no idea how the Irish system worked. Gloaming Reach changed everything. They helped us register with a GP, sort our children's school places, and understand our housing rights. But more than the practical stuff β they made us feel like we belonged here. My youngest daughter just started secondary school and loves it. That would not have happened without this organisation's support and patience."
Cosmin Eakins
Community integration participant, Dublin
"The weekly digital skills class gave me the confidence I needed to apply for jobs online. My volunteer tutor was so patient β I'd never used a computer before. Within two months I had my first email account, a CV, and a part-time job. I'm 58 years old and genuinely proud of myself."
Richa Carlo
Digital literacy workshop, Dublin
"The food parcels helped us through a desperately hard time when my husband lost his job. No questions, no shame β just real, practical support. The volunteers were so kind. I'll never forget what Gloaming Reach did for our family."
Ciarrai Holyoake
Food distribution programme, Dublin
"My son was struggling badly in school and pulling away from us. His mentor from Gloaming Reach completely transformed his outlook. Now he's talking about studying engineering. The mentorship program gave him someone who truly understood his world."
Rotimi Bobro
Parent, youth mentorship programme
"Since my husband passed, I was living alone and barely leaving the house. The volunteer visits from Gloaming Reach gave me something to look forward to each week. I've even started attending the Thursday social group. I feel human again."
Lords Caulfield
Senior outreach participant, Dublin
"The cultural evenings have been one of the best parts of our move to Dublin. Meeting families from Nigeria, Poland, Brazil, and right here in Ireland β all sharing food and stories. It's exactly the kind of community I hoped we'd find."
Par Loh
Cultural exchange participant
